★ HOW TO CLEAN SILVER EARRINGS ★
HELPFUL TIPS
There are simple and effective ways to restore their original shine without having to spend a fortune to buy new ones.
Costume jewelry can add a touch of elegance and personality to any look, as I always say it helps us shine and not just on an aesthetic level. However, over time, it is normal for your favorite jewelry to oxidize due to contact with air, moisture and chemicals.
Oxidation occurs because metal (or rather steel) comes in contact with air causing the process that leads to discoloration or blackening of your costume jewelry.
But we have good news: you can get rid of oxidation and make oxidized costume jewelry look like new again using only 6 natural remedies:
LEMON
Lemon is an excellent remedy for polishing costume jewelry and ridding it of oxidation. Just take half a glass of lemon juice and mix it with a little water in a small bowl.
After that, place your jewelry to soak and leave it for about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry the jewelry with a clean cloth.
Your jewelry will immediately appear shinier! In fact, the acid in the lemon is able to eat away the dirt given by oxidation and restore the jewelry to its initial shiny state.
BAKING SODA AND FINE SALT
Another effective remedy for cleaning costume jewelry that has turned black is baking soda.
First, line a glass or pan with aluminum foil.
After that, place all the blackened costume jewelry on the foil. At this point, pour in one tablespoon of salt, one tablespoon of baking soda and one cup of warm water.
Then, mix all the contents together and leave for a few minutes. Then, rinse with cold water and dry with a clean cloth.
TOOTHPASTE
Toothpaste is a very versatile home remedy for removing stains from a variety of surfaces.
For this remedy, you will need a toothbrush or Q-tip and a small amount of toothpaste. Pour a dollop on your blackened piece of jewelry and extend it with your finger. At this point, scrub with the toothbrush. Finally, rinse with cold water and dry with a clean cloth.
VINEGER
Vinegar is very effective in removing dirt and blackening given by the oxidation process. In order to try this remedy, create a solution of white vinegar and water. You decide the amount based on the size and quantity of your jewelry.
Once you have made this mixture in a bowl, soak the oxidized jewelry for about 15 minutes.
After that, use a soft toothbrush so you can gently scrub where the stains are most resistant.
